The celebrations start in:
In 2016, this area of eastern Ontario will mark its 200th Anniversary - and preparations are already underway. From all indications this will be a major celebration! This section of our website will provide updates as we move closer to 2016 and the various organisations involved in the celebration develop and stage their events. See below for a listing of coming events and use the sidebar menu to see the details of the various organizing groups.
As of the fall of 2011, committees have been organized for the Town of Perth and neighbouring Tay Valley Township - and anniversary planning has commenced. Present-day Tay Valley Township includes the original townships of Bathurst, North Burgess, and South Sherbrooke.
On the immediate east side, the Council of Drummond/ North Elmsley Township has taken the first steps towards appointing a committee - and, further east, Beckwith Township has also indicated an interest in the celebration.
